Buffalo AKG Art Museum: Rediscovering art
The Buffalo AKG Art Museum, formerly the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, is one of the oldest museums of contemporary art in the United States and the sixth oldest public art institution in the country. Founded in 1862, it has built up a significant collection of modern and contemporary works over the decades. The museum's goal is to inspire and promote dialogue through exhibitions, educational programmes and events. Since the addition of the annex in 1962, the exhibition space has remained unchanged, while the collection has grown by more than 5,000 works. In 2016, OMA began redesigning the annex, and on 12 June 2023, the revitalised museum finally reopened its doors.
