Detailed information
Kö-Bogen II: Europe's largest green façade
Kö-Bogen II in Düsseldorf currently boasts the largest green façade in Europe. Opened in 2020, the building complex was designed as an urban development model project for climate-adapted construction. Over 30,000 hornbeams cover large parts of the exterior surfaces. The ensemble offers around 42,000 square metres of usable space for retail, restaurants, offices and lounge areas, with an underground car park below. The 27-metre-high and 120-metre-long south façade of the main building is completely glazed, as are the two triangular façades of the annex. The sides facing the Gustav-Gründgens-square, on the other hand, are almost completely planted. According to research, the ecological effect of the greenery is roughly equivalent to that of 80 mature deciduous trees, particularly in terms of oxygen production and fine dust binding.
